which raw score would be above 900?

Post by physicist91 » Wed May 04, 2016 2:01 am

Hi, i took GREP exam on 16, April, 2016.

i think that my raw score might be approximately mid-80. (if i did not make mistakes in the exam)

of course, the score would strongly depend on the difficulty of the exam, however, i want to certify that which raw score
averagely have shown the score of 900+

(i cannot estimate the score based on ETS sample tests because the samples are much harder than the GREP exam on 16,April, 2016)
i heard that above 80 in raw score often show 900+ but i have no idea. according to this data, above 94 was 990.

https://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_guide_table2.pdf

However, Harvard GREP guide says that The raw score out of 100 is converted to a scaled score out of
990, which roughly corresponds to a raw score of 85 or above and a percentile
of 95.

http://users.physics.harvard.edu/~rudel ... cs_GRE.pdf

hmm......

today exams are much harder to get a good score than the previous ones, like samples, because much higher raw score is required to get 990 in today`s GREP?

Hey physicist91,

The table that you're looking at that says 94 for a 990 is a percentile table, nor a raw score table. It means that 94 percent of test takers will score below that, not that their raw score was that. The required raw score for 990 will almost certainly be far below 94. I do feel your pain though as we wait for Sunday night to know for sure.

Yep, I did. I'm pretty excited to see the scores, too. They got sent out to schools today. Just a few more hours (like 20 something, hahaha) now and we will be good to go. Score day is going to be a good day :) don't worry.

Haha... I'm late for the party, had to go to bed after some sleep deprivation. Well, that this part of the application is done with, we need to go over SOP's an so :) .

yep!!! I should write my SOP with magical statements. i think that it would be better to appeal our research interest and experience.

GRE General would be also taxing ( i have not took and studied it yet)
