verbal scores for american students

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

verbal scores for american students

Post by nvanmeter » Sun Dec 02, 2007 2:06 am

so if you look at that gradschoolshopper website, all the top schools seem to have average verbal gre scores in the mid 500's. but i figure that includes international students and an american student would be expected to score much higher. does anyone know some ballpark averages for american students for the top 10 schools on the verbal part (and writing) of the general GRE?

According to UT Austin's web site, the average score for American students they admit is 614.

I doubt departments will reject / admit students based on their verbal score, unless it is really low (under 400) I don't think they care.
