Summer Research, International student in UK

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Summer Research, International student in UK

Post by unscientific » Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:54 pm

Hi guys, I'm currently a second year student reading for a physics degree at Oxford, UK. (3 years BSc, 1 year master)

There are summer research opportunities in germany (RISE) but I'm more keen on experiencing research in one of the US universities. I know caltech does a SURF programme, but it's competitive as hell.

Are there any other programs or US universities that accept international students for a summer research internship?

Cheers

This is the most complete list I've ever seen. Most programs will require US residency status, so you might be more successful straight contacting professors of interest and seeing if they have any funding through their grant (be prepared for many, many rejections before someone expresses interest). I know that at least some UK schools have a system set up to allow you to do your masters year abroad, so that's an option as well.
