Good graduate schools for condensed matter physics?

Post by dviabhav » Fri Aug 09, 2013 6:51 am

By good schools I do not mean the obvious ones like Princeton, CALTECH, Stanford and the like. I mean the lesser ranked in general but really good for condensed matter physics. Can someone please name some of them?

For experiment, there's Florida State, which is next to the Magnet Lab, Purdue, Ohio State, Minnesota and Boston U. Don't know about theory..

Off the top of my head, a few schools that stand out in my mind that have great condensed matter research.

Illinois - Urbana Champaign
Iowa State University (National Lab there that supports CMP mostly)
University of Maryland
University of Florida
