Post by jayashri » Sat Dec 25, 2010 1:44 am

I have completed my MSc with 71% and got 75 % in my BSc.
I got 1100 in GRE and 520 in PGRE(i know its very bad)

I am currently a project assistant and have research exp. of 1 year along with teaching exp. of 1 yr.

Pls let me know what are my chances for the following:
a)Syracuse
b)UIC
c)Univ. Florida
d)Rutger's
e)Univ. of Utah
f)kent state
g) Univ of Minnesota, twin cities

thanks a lot

I am sorry to say this, but in my opinion you should not waste time or money applying to physics graduate school this year. I doubt that any school would accept you, because you are an international student with such a bad physics GRE score.

If you are still interested in going to physics graduate school in the US, you need to improve your physics GRE score by hundreds of points before applying again.

The PGRE would be a problem for students with just a bachelor's degree--remember that there are typically hundreds of international applicants and schools can only take a few. The PGRE would put you near the bottom.

And then they would see that you have a masters! This makes it much worse. A year of teaching and research means nothing since every student with a masters has that.

Unless there is something particularly special about you that hasn't been mentioned, I agree that you should retake it and apply a year later.
