Complex systems and chaos research program advice

Post by selfadjoint » Sat Nov 03, 2007 4:07 pm

Hi to every body I am a physics student from turkey

I want to make my graduation in the topic of chaos and complex systems research.

My GPA 3.2/4 my gre physics score is (probably) 800 - 850 (I took the Nov. 3 test).

I didn’t take the general test and toefl yet. (I will take in a short time)

Can any one give me some school advice in order to help my choices of application?

My graduate dream is Cornell s physics department, but in reality ı guess ı have to make some (more realistic) choices of schools

My list is something like

Cornell physics
Cornell applied mathematics
Maryland physics
New York University
University of Miami physics

I need a longer list please help..

thanks to everyone again

add the following to the list

UT Austin - Center for Nonlinear Dynamics
Georgia Tech - Center for Nonlinear Science
Duke - Center for Nonlinear and Complex Systems
UCSD - Institute for Nonlinear Science

The University of Michigan has the Center for the Study of Complex Systems, which has faculty with dual appointments in physics. The only think I know the center is that Mark Newman is there, and he does some pretty neat stuff (and makes pretty pictures when bored).

Are there other schools apart from those listed above that have nonlinear dynamics & chaos programs...universities in 30-60 range.? Would be glad if someone came up with the information.
Thanks.
