composite GRE score

Post by khaled9099 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 7:23 pm

Hey,
Im traying to study abroad and a university asked me to submit a gre score with a minimum composite GRE score of 667(v+q) showing math resoning skills knowing that english is not my first language so
1) Is this requirement mean that i have to score 667 out of 1600 or out of what ?
2) is that considered an average score or less than average ?
cheers

667 out of 1600 would be really really low, so I don't think that's what they meant. Maybe they meant an average of 667 among the two parts?

Are you aware that this is a forum specifically for students aiming to become graduate students in physics? If you are speaking in general, 667 composite score is possibly what they meant, but most students here score close to 800 just on the quantitative part. Look at the profiles threads stickied here if you scroll down: http://www.physicsgre.com/viewforum.php?f=3

Some of us are so awesome that we some how got outscored on the quantitative by our GF who got her degree in English. Not me, of course. Just "someone I know." ;)

Maybe they mean 667+667 (=1334) composite score? Maybe it was a typo? 667 composite score can't possibly be right.

All he's doing is studying abroad and the university is just seeing if he meets some bare minimum requirement. He's not applying to a prestigious program. I think this is just a floor cutoff, 667 is possible. khaled9099, that would be considered a downright terrible composite score.

Actually, it depends very much on the program. I'm sure there are plenty of software engineering masters program that let you in if you have a pulse and can pay the tuition.
