What exactly is the difference between High Energy Physics & Particles and Field? Aren't they pretty much the same?

How about "other"? I'm interested in mathematical physics and gravity and relativity.

I'm interested in psychology. How come that's not on the list?

Probably because this is a physics forum.
You should have less categories and then divide them into experiment/theory.

I don't see why we can't put High Energy Physics and Particles & Field in the same field...after all, the list is not comprehensive...

so, lets say the number of votes for HIGH ENERGY is: 3 thus far...

For ARTIST, i wish there was psychologygre.com... aha... u can start one ... your chance to excel

Now if only we could get an organized list of replies/dates from grad schools...

I guess technically you could make a poll of schools. You would have to try to include every single school that every single person might possibly have applied to in every subject pertaining to physics. Perhaps it's somewhat implausible?

I technically applied to both high energy theory programs and plasma/fusion theory programs, but this only lets you choose one, so my hit went to the high energy one

Wow ... it seems that (High energy + Particles and fields) overtakes condensed matter, though there are far fewer grad positions in these fields ...

My vote for High energy physics. But it would be better if it goes with astro
