UCLA Campus and Surrounding Conditions?

Post by Skribb » Mon Aug 31, 2009 11:46 pm

I have been seriously considering UCLA for graduate school and after mentioning this to a friend, I was told that the campus is very nice but all of the area surrounding it is a bit trashy. I'm curious if anybody has gone to this school and if they felt that the surrounding area was really bothersome in any way.

I believe someone last year asked this exact same question and received a number of replies from locals familiar with the area. You may want to try and locate this thread.

EDIT: Decided to see if I could find it, here's the thread I was talking about. User Helio I believe did his undergrad in LA (USC, I think?) so you could PM him if you have more questions.

UCLA is in Westwood, which is a very nice area of LA, and it's right near Santa Monica, which is also a nice area.

USC is right near Watts, which is the extremely trashy part of LA.
