It's now much easier to find the thread you are looking for since, for example, if you are searching to see if anyone posted a thread about the usefulness of University Physics in studying for the Physics GRE, you now only have to look at the threads in the category of interest and you are therefore searching through fewer threads. Good job on making the forum better organized. :D

I find it annoying. I usually look at the 4 or 5 most recent threads. Who wants to look for posts in 50 subforums?

twistor, that's where the "24 hours" button comes in handy. It lists the most recent posts chronologically and includes the first few sentences of the posts. That way you'll never miss a post. This is the first button I click on when I visit the forum. I scroll down to the most recent post I remember reading and then skim upwards and click the links to jump to ones I want to read fully. That's been way easier than what I did last year... look at each forum individually, and then each thread and then each post as new posts are getting written ugh.

I'll have to try this. Thanks.

I dunno, I've always just followed the highlighted icons which link you straight to the last unread post in a thread. It never takes me a lot of time *shrug*...

I would propose to create a different subforum for those who are new to the physics scope and who want to turn to physics by asking for info about the GRE physics test etc. This subforum should be "a piece of cake" to recognise for the new members of the forum. All possible questions that could be asked (and answered of course) by a physics newcomer should be included in the various threads of the forementioned subforum. I say this, for several new members don't know how to browse the threads that interest them. This new subforum should be a reference point for all non-physicists, for instance mech. engineers etc. Non-physicists should have the opportunity to share their opinions employing basically this subforum; this way some of us won't become irritated when facing a new post about an engineer or anybody else who decided to turn to physics ... . The final decision is yours ... .
