Gender Equality

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Gender Equality

Post by 1297or7921 » Mon Dec 18, 2006 10:09 pm

I recently read the following:

I'm wondering if schools separate applicants based on gender. I think most schools do so for international versus national students...as a consequence of funding/visas?

Do you guys know if there's something such as unofficial versus official minimum scores for entrance to the top schools?

I recall that when I was applying to colleges, at one school, I was told that the applicants are divided into gender, region, and race. Then they select a specific number of people from each pool to satisfy a certain distribution.
