particle theory and nuclear theory

Any guys here applied to UWashington or Duke , Anyone got offer in particle or nuclear theory?

Thanks, Helio... I just roughly browsed, seems most of the offers are in experiments from the two schools... are there actullay separate committees reviewing applications and making offers? quite puzzled...

that depends from school to school really.... some form sub-committees by specialty and make first sweep and then form a general committee, while others just have one big one

I'm applying for particle & optical theory and no, I haven't heard a thing other than they did get all of my materials.

guess it means the theoretical fields are more competative and the committees have to take a long time to decide which "few" they like...

well there is the idea that committee's split the applications into particle theory and everybody else cause there are so many

I would guess applicants from CME would be of a large number too

meh, it's still early for admissions results (even if Duke's deadline was 12/15). If I don't hear from them by mid-February I'll start getting a little antsy. Not that I fully expect to get in, hah.

Duke's really good one... lots of Duke offers now... waiting suffers...

12/15 should be done by now.... i hate how they take forever when I look at schools like UIUC where they seem to take less than a month to make up their mind... like what do you need the extra month for... to let the application collect dust, so it comes to aged?
