I believe the International Office initiates the I-20 process. They will ask you to provide proof of funding, and that is when you should talk to your department to get the proof. At some smaller schools though, the International Office will talk to your department on your behalf (or the department provides the info to the Graduate Office and the International Office gets it from the Graduate Office).

In any case, direction will come from the International Office and once you get the request for info, you should talk to your department!

Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on with UPitt? I've seen a few rejections and some acceptances and a whole bunch of seemingly neverending waitlists... one would think they'd have some final verdicts by now.
