Lets vote on our preference for one of these subfields in physics...should give us a good idea of what applicants are applying for when they apply to graduate school:

Astrophysics

Atmospheric/Space Physics

Atomic, Molecular and Optical

Biophysics

Condensed Matter Physics

High Energy Physics

Medical & Health Physics

Nonlinear Dynamics

Nuclear Physics

Optics

Particles and Field

Plasma Physics, Fusion

Relativity and Gravitation

Statistical & Thermal

Lets vote and vote only... :-)
Please put a number (for the total votes so far) on your choice..

We also need to include Biophysics, which is not synonymous with Medical Physics. On that note, count me in as Biophysics.

How about we start from 1 for each field and increment it as we vote...
So, so far..
Condensed Matter: 1
Plasma Physics: 1
Medical Physics: 1
Astrophysics: 1
Biophysics: 1

At what point should you start becoming really worried. I hear that there is a multi stage admission process. Does anyone know the general details of how this works? Are the first admitted the research fellows, then the later teaching fellows?

I have only been accepted to one university so far. Although I am pleased, I am hoping to go to a uni with a better location.

Isn't there an option on the site somewhere to do a poll? In any event,
