Inquiring about application status

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

Inquiring about application status

Postby MaFFGeeK » Wed Mar 06, 2013 4:45 pm

I applied to 10 schools and so far I've only heard back from 4 of them (1 acceptance, 1 waitlist, and 2 rejections). At this point is it okay to email schools to ask about my application status? How should I word these emails to not come off as impatient or rude?

Would it be better to just wait it out for them to get back to me?

totally fine to ask now, they should have had a chance to look at your application. I would say that you're trying to decide which schools to visit, and want to know if they've made a decision.
