Hi there - I know that P means the mark you got in the physics GRE (or PGRE as it seems also to be called .... ) but what are the Q V and W? - are they relating to the general GRE? and for confirmation: P is the only letter that has relevance to the physics GRE?

OK ... have just found a little more out ... is this correct: Q=Math V=Verbal W=Writing?

Thanks!

There is also a Psychology GRE:
Two strangers, Lisa and Henry, were both watching a large building being imploded. At the implosion they became attracted to each other and began dating. Lisa and Henry's attraction is best explained by which of the following effects?

(A) Mere-exposure
(B) Excitation-transfer
(C) False consensus
(D) Sleeper
(E) Overjustification

^^ lol, wow. At first I thought that was a joke. But geez, it's really a psych GRE question. It looks like (b) is the answer without having to learn anything. I wonder how high a score we could all get on the psych GRE just with common sense.

I hope that was one of the easier questions... Those last 3 choices clearly make no sense. ETS isn't as easy on us with the physics GRE... they do a much better job of tricking us with the wrong answer choices... the choices would look more like this:

(A) (Excitation-transfer)/2
(B) 2*(Excitation-transfer)
(C) sin(Excitation-transfer)
(D) (Excitation-transfer)^3
(E) 0

Indeed it was rather easy (85% of test-takers got that one right).

For me the worst is still the English literature GRE:
And on the slope above the sea
The hard-handed peasants go their round
Turning the soil, blind of the body
Ambitious and viable, whose pride
Will leave no trace in the quenching tide.

The "body" (line 3) is the body of:

(A) Ulysses
(B) Achilles
(C) Icarus
(D) Priam
(E) Hector

The correct answer is actually:

(F) Would you like fries with that?
