Any news from Medical Physics programs? (2010)

Just got an e-mail today that I got an interview with GSBS in Houston. I feel like people should be hearing something similar from UCLA if they have been chosen, but I have not heard anything yet. I thought it might be useful to get updates from people on when they hear from different schools so we can all have a good idea of our chances

That's great. I didnt apply to Houston but did to UCLA. I did send my application documents rather late, and coupled with the fact that I'm an international applicant, I'm not so sure what might happen.
Where else did you apply? I'm still waiting on Duke, UWM, Purdue..

I applied to a lot of programs, but I've only heard from UT Houston so far

Hey. I also got an interview from Houston and went through the process to set the date for may interview, then a few days later I got an email saying that "due to unforeseen circumstances, we will have to reschedule your visit to Houston". I don't know, but now I'm worried. Has this happened to anyone else?

Also applied to San Antonio and Duke. I haven't heard anything from Duke yet, but San Antonio said that my application is complete and seems to suggest that they won't send decisions until after March 1st.

I hate all of the waiting.....

I have heard from UT Houston, UCLA, UWisc, UChicago now

Apparently UChicago interview overlaps UCLA interview. I hope I don't have to choose already

dsr39:

pm me before you choose. I might have information you can ponder.

Same for anyone going into medical physics.

Also, please thoroughly read the opinion on medical physics thread on this site. The above also applies to anyone getting medical physics acceptances this year.

Got an offer from Purdue with no funding. How am I supposed to survive without any funding?
Anybody else been in a similar situation with Purdue?

I got the same response from UT. I scheduled my interview and then a few days later they said there was some problem. Still waiting on the interview.

Still need to hear from Duke and UF

Hey dreamz

You might want to try calling the medical physics department at Houston and see what they have to say.

I ended up waiting over a month after I got my interview for them to reschedule the date. Got tired of waiting and called the medical physics department and they said that "I am qualified for an interview, but the department has not sent an invitation". They said that the interview invitation I received must have been a mistake on part of the graduate school of biomedical sciences or something like that.

Just something to think about

That is something to think about. I have been emailing the one of the administrators who responds by saying, we will schedule it in Feb/March/unknown. It's quite annoying and if it was a mistake I feel like they should have just told me that.

Do you remember who you spoke with?

Yeah, the person who emailed me to say that the interview would have to be rescheduled kept saying that they were "trying to figure things out on their end and would inform me as soon as they rescheduled it". However, after a couple of weeks they stopped responding to my emails.

I ended up calling the Education Director of the medical physics department. Her information can be found on the contact information page on the medical physics website.

Hope everything works out better for you than it did for me.

Thanks for the information. I will be giving them a call because that is absolutely ridiculous if they made a mistake and neglected to tell me for two months. I don't think that stringing me along a feeding me lies is the way to go. Not very happy with them.

I gotta admit I am pissed with Medical Physics. All of the programs I've applied to have given me the silent treatment over the past months. I've only just received word from Chicago and UW-Madison that I was rejected. UCLA won't even tell me that they've sent out interview invitations and such, despite it being reported on these forums that they indeed have sent them out.

I only hope UFL doesn't take 3 months to respond. Does anyone know when they start sending out responses?

I am not sure but according the post below probably you will have to wait quite a while.

I already knew that though. I was asking for others. One point in time doesn't tell me if that's the first wave, second wave, or what?

I have the same problem. I got only one offer so far from Purdue and they aren't funding.

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about UT Health Science Center at San Antonio? I know that their deadline was March 1st, but I am just wondering if they send out offers before their deadline ended or if they wait until after.

Hey guys, anybody heard anything yet from any of the schools? I saw a couple of offers from Duke on Gradcafe a couple of weeks ago and the Graduate Coordinator told me they'll be sending out the rest of the decisions this week. Just wondering if anybody here got an offer/rejection from them or any other school.

As far as Duke goes, I'm not sure if they've sent out PhD offers or just Masters. I know, based off gradcafe as well as people I know personally, they have already filled their masters rosters and already had an open house a couple of weeks ago. I imagine the people who have heard back are probably competing for 1-2 PhD spots from accepted students who turned them down. I just hope Duke actually sends out final results to everyone and doesn't just give rejected students the silent treatment.

Does anyone know the website the people keep listing for seeing their Duke admissions on thegradcafe.com?

Was wondering about that too. The impression I got was they implied decisions would be sent via email. At this point, I'm not really confident about Duke anymore anyway.

What's up with everybody? Have you guys heard anything from any of the programs?
I've only heard from Duke which was a rejection as I kinda expected.
