SOP Examples

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

SOP Examples

Post by dmahler » Sun Dec 07, 2008 12:53 pm

Sorry to do this, but even if I order Asher's book right now, it won't arrive in time so...
Does anyone know of any online examples of SOPs (that are good!). I'm just trying to get an idea of what it should look like. At the moment, mine is just over a page in length, and the majority of it is talking about my past research. Its not very personal, but I do mention my interests and reasons for going to grad school, if a bit briefly.
Thanks for any help,
-dm

Mine looks similar with basically telling the researching, but it is about what i learned as a person from the research rather than the technicalities

I think I had a pretty cheesy opening paragraph, and I make no guarantees about its quality, but if you like you're welcome to see my successful essay for Berkeley. Send me a private message with your email.
