MIT or Stanford for Experimental Particle Physics

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

MIT or Stanford for Experimental Particle Physics

Post by Iustinius » Mon Feb 25, 2019 1:55 pm

Hi,

I recently received offers from both MIT and Stanford for Experimental Particle Physics. Before I go to their open houses, I am wondering if anyone has any opinions as to how their programs compare in terms of academics, faculty research, everyday life, culture, etc. All thoughts are appreciated!

I can't give you any real opinions on the programs because I haven't interacted with either. What I can say is, after you consider all the factors that go into deciding the school, just remember if it is a close call between the two of them, then you can't possibly go wrong. YOu'll be happy wherever you go.
