How competitive is computational physics graduate admission?

  • This has become our largest and most active forum because the physics GRE is just one aspect of getting accepted into a graduate physics program.
  • There are applications, personal statements, letters of recommendation, visiting schools, anxiety of waiting for acceptances, deciding between schools, finding out where others are going, etc.

How competitive is computational physics graduate admission?

Everyone knows theory is harder to get into experiment for graduate school 99% of the time. But is computational just as hard as theory or is it about the level of selectivity as experiment?

My school offers "targeted fellowships" for Computational Physics and Biophysics grads, so I assume that means these fields are in demand here.
