Masters in electrical engineering going for physics

Hello,
I've got masters degree in electrical engineering ( communications engineering ). I want to know if it's possible that I can apply for physics as graduate. If yes, can GRE physics be of any use ? what textbooks do you recommend for studying for GRE test ?
