I missed the physics deadline for the NSF Science Graduate Fellowship ( I think it was Nov 10th =/ )

However, I just got an email saying the deadline is Nov. 30th. I suppose this is for the general application...

Is it still worth submitting an application? My advisor said the NSF is fairly strict about deadlines.. =/

There is a new DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE SCGF), which has the deadline of today (November 30).

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRFP) has early November deadlines which have already passed for this year.

Both fellowships are of course worth applying for. If you can still get together an excellent application (and all letters of recommendation) for the DOE SCGF, I would give it a shot, but you will also need to upload scanned copies of official transcripts. From what I've seen from looking at reports of the DOE FY 2010 budget, the DOE SCGF will support about 130-140 new graduate students next year.
