New publication, should I inform the schools at this stage?

Post by OperationalAmp » Fri Feb 12, 2016 8:38 pm

Basically I was doing undergrad research at my university, and the group I'm with has generously included me as a coauthor in a (very) recent publication.

Would it seem very contrived if I emailed admissions to tell them I've got a publication now (it's already mid Feb)?

I did mention in my SOP that I was doing said research, but did not mention about any potential publication since it was still ongoing then.

Figured there's no loss if they ignored it, but potentially a gain if otherwise. Any advices? :D

I did the same a couple of weeks ago - emailed all of my schools to tell them I just had a new paper published. There's absolutely nothing to lose at all.

Absolutely contact them and let them know you have a recently published paper to add to your application! That is a big plus on an application and will only help.
