SOP help

Post by KTH » Mon Jan 17, 2011 7:52 pm

I am trying to transfer to a another university. Main reasons for that are,

1. I do not like my research and
2. my wife is in another state( where I want to transfer).

Is it good to include these reasons in my SOP? Most of the colleges ask me why I am trying to transfer...

Please help me...

Of course you should include it. We wouldn't seriously consider any transfer student without knowing why they want to leave, and your reasons (especially the second) are perfectly good.

I would phrase the first reason more positively, something like "I have become interested in [area of research at the school to which you're applying], which is not available at my current university." It might be a good idea to add an explanation of your change in interest, so it seems likes a well thought-out decision instead of an impulse move.
