Submitting physics GRE score or not?

My physics GRE score is 600 (31%). I going to apply to some PhD programs where physics GRE score is not required but recommended. In that case should I submit this score or not? What would be better: submitting this score or not?

Depends on where the school is ranked. You could do a check on gradschoolshopper and see what the average is for the school and if it is above that or close to it just submit it.

I am gonna apply -

Uni of Oklahama (85)
Wayne State University (113)
Oklahama State Uni (102)
Old Dominion Uni (122)
Uni of South Carolina (113)

By the way, thank you all, I was in a dilemma about this matter.

Pick 3, send them your GRE scores. Don't give the other 3 your GRE scores. This is the "safest" way. It shouldn't really matter with these schools.

So you are suggesting to send my physics GRE scores to Uni of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Uni and Wayne State Uni; but not send to the other two?

I'd send them to everyone, but I'm with Riley that it probably doesn't matter much. You didn't totally 'bomb' the test, I've heard of worse scores from successful applicants.

Though if you do what Riley suggested, I'd be interested in the results of that controlled experiment.

If your goal is to get into a graduate program this is the best way to plot against any risks this score might have on the application process. If all of the schools were to view the score as a bad thing, then at least you'll have two schools holding your application. If all of the schools were to view the score as a good thing, then you'd have three schools holding your application.

Like I said, it probably won't matter either way, but if you're worried about either outcome, you ride the fence. :)
