hello

i was really excited my second semester of sophmore year because i had 4.0 oed all my physics classes. however, this first junior semester year i got two ugly 2.5s (advanced mechanics and optics). my overall gpa is 3.4 byt my physics gpa is around 3.2-3.3. i am really bummed because i have to send my application spring of senior year. i took 18 credits, i busted my ass and i failed.

so

a few questions.
advanced mechanics is a hard elective. optics is not a requirement either. i did in qm fine, i got a 3.5. what have been motivating me is the fact that i havent blown it in my core courses yet. am i hopeless for grad school? i been thinking of trying to ace this last junior semester to save my skin.

thanks

Grades are a small piece of the pie, and one off semester under a very challenging course load isn't the end of the world. Choose your classes more wisely from here on out--you need to be able to devote enough time to actually learn the material and get good grades in your classes. Strong research experience and letters of recommendation can offset even multiple semesters of lackluster grades. Good luck.
