MA in Physics at Stonybrook, transfer options?

Hi All,
Been accepted to an unfunded Masters program in Physics at Stony Brook. I have some other fully funded PhD options, but this is definitely the best school I was accepted to.
I was wondering if anybody has any knowledge/experience entering the Masters program at Stony Brook and what they can tell me about ease of transition into the full PhD program, or admission to another school's PhD program after completion of the Masters.
Thanks!

Taking any of the fully-funded PhD options may be a better choice...

Bump.
Any thoughts? Any people on this forum who have gone this route?

I've been told that it's unwise to pay for an MS in physics. Perhaps consider the PhD programs or a gap year. I think physics is weird in that the MS degree is a door prize and you are better not seeking it.
