How is Physics department at University of Virginia?

Hi,
any graduate students from UVA? I would be really helpful if you can tell me how is Physics graduate school there. I wish to do PhD. in condensed matter theory.

I know a guy who left Berkeley to do condensed matter theory at UVA, but I don't remember who it was he went to work for.

Well, without more information, I don't think that story suggests anything about the quality of UVA's physics department or CMT research. Someone might switch schools for many reasons such as (a) to be with a spouse and/or (b) failing quals at school A.
