Help required for last minute decision

Post by siroy.sam » Sun Dec 25, 2011 4:40 am

Hi,

Here is my profile:

Nationality: Indian
TOEFL: 96
GRE: V-143, Q-150
PGRE: 650(<44%)
Research experiments: just an MSc dissertation project on solar neutrino. Attended couple of schools and conference in HEP/Cosmology at national level.
Grade: At MSc, i got 71.8%

I know my score are really pathetic, but I can't help it this time. My interest of research is in experimental particle physics. I am considering for applying to the following universities:
1.Oklahoma University ( 85 ranking)
2.Kansas State University( 85)
3.University of Alabama Tuscaloosa(113)
4.University of South Carolina(113)
5.University of Mississippi(122)
6.Northern Illinois University(145)

Do I stand any chance in this universities? Should I add some universities in the range of 60 to 80? What is your suggestion as I am starting to fill my online application? Please suggest some other universities or location where I may have luck to get in, in view of the fact that I am an international applicant.

Thanks in advance for your help and support,

Siroy

Your scores aren't that poor. Almost all of the places you list probably have an average PGRE of admitted students below yours (especially if you don't count PRC students). I'd add a few more places in roughly the same range. Good luck.
