Biophysics PHD in Harvard

Post by answertw » Tue Mar 08, 2011 11:56 am

I have some concern for applying biophysics PHD. I wonder that if there is any chance for me to success in applying Harvard, and the most probable rank of school can I enter.

I'm a student from Taiwan(NTU physics). The following is my score list:
GPA: overall: 3.5(3.49) Last 60: 3.91
President award(top 5% in class): 1 time
GRE: V 740 / Q 800 AWA 3.0
TOEFL: L 25/R 29/ W 24/ S 22 T:100
PGRE: 970 (93%)

Publication: no but have done some research in bioimaging and DNA sequence.

I do understand that for my low GPA and rare research result, applying to Harvard is too difficult. However, I've search the research in Harvard, so interesting and attractive. Is is appropriate to send e-mail to some professors, requesting that they take a look at my SOP and recommendation letters?
By the way, although it's hard for me to success in applying to top 10 school, I am curious about what rank may I get admission in?

Thank you so much.

Want to underline that the program is designed to nurture independent, creative scientists and if you are really such a one, so Luck :D
