Does Stony Brook ever offer any funding for Masters?

I was rejected from PhD application but given opportunity to join Masters.

Question #1 — Don't they give this option to practically everyone?

Question #2 — Is there EVER funding available for Masters?!

I was told by someone in their department that they do not fund master's students, and offer this option to those rejected from the phd applicant pool who are "qualified".

Thanks :/ I ended up declining after getting some advice from and reaching out to current Stony Brook PhDs who were accepted into the masters first.

Hi! May I ask what were your reasons to reject Stony Brook? I have gotten into the MA programme for Fall 2022 and got rejected for the PhD programme.
