Is a top ten school possible?

Post by Davidjb7 » Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:15 pm

Hey guys,

I'm a senior at a state school with excellent Physics Course Grades (3.9) but a horrible overall GPA (3.2) . Anyway, I have a 330/340 on the GRE and my practice pGRE is around an 820, but I have only just started studying for it. I have worked for two professors doing research, but neither was to my liking and the research petered off over time. I was a member of a top three Collegiate Rocketry Team which competed in NASA's Student Launch Competition so I have lots of experience with formal writing/documentation and a wealth of experience in coding, manufacturing and simulation calculations from my time with the team. I have also worked as an Electrical Engineer for a startup company designing and building a prototype device.

To make it easier to assess, I have color coded and ranked all the different areas on a scale of 1-10 below.

  • Work-Experience: 10
    Charisma/Personality: 10
    Writing: 10
    Scores: 9
    References: 9
    Course-Work: 8
    Research: 6
    Pedigree: 6

So with all of that in mind, what do you all think my chances are of getting into Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Johns Hopkins, UChi, or Princeton?

My gut instinct is to say a 60-70% but I honestly have no clue. Thoughts?
