Has anyone heard anything or got accepted to the above schools? Why are they slower than MIT??

They think that they can do that. They can. It's a psychological tactic. The longer they keep you waiting the more excited you will be when you finally hear from them.

Keep playing their games.

Go back and look through the old threads. I rejected all these schools, I'm too good for them.

Based on what I could find at thegradcafe, the average date for acceptance is Feb 19 for Caltech, Feb 24 for Harvard, Feb 21 for Stanford, and Feb 21 for Princeton. Stanford seems like it does them all at once though, so odds are they'll send out a lot of emails on the same day (like UIUC this year).

Princeton seems to have already sent their acceptances. There are few acceptances on this forum as well, so there might me few more outside also.. Considering the fact that they do not offer admission to more than 40 peoples, I have come to the conclusion that I have been rejected from Princeton as well. *** each and everyone there.

Look at thegradcafe.com . Looks like Harvard sent out a lot the 24th.

EDIT: the 23rd was when P sent out the rejections last year.

I don't know of anyone on this forum or elsewhere that's heard back from Princeton yet, other than astrophysics.

Berkeley has also (to my best knowledge) not yet sent out any offers.

Anyone heard from princeton, harvard, stanford, or Caltech??

yeah, for princeton, only astro so far, and that's a much much smaller department.

Stanford, caltech, and princeton probably accept ~60 people since their class size is ~20.

Berkeley probably takes time, since they accept ~100 people in a couple of stage.

ok we have a new member called astroprof, so one more prof on the forum!

EDIT: Does Princeton send aacceptances and rejections all at once or it is again in diff rounds?

There's one person on here in the profile thread who has been accepted to Berkeley. However, I think his adviser has connections there.

Anyone heard from princeton, harvard, stanford, or Caltech??

So, is that person for real?? he didn't really mention much on the forum other than on his stats. and there should exist more connection people here. Why just him? Peder said a famous berkeley prof said he wants him in his group before. If so, peder should have the strongest connection....

I'm not sure if he/she is for real or not. I thought I remembered reading that this same person had connections to Berkeley, I could be mistaken however.

I actually exist, and I got an acceptance from Berkeley on the 8th. I worked with a couple of Berkeley profs on my thesis project, and I also did some experiments at Lawrence Berkeley labs, but I still have no idea how I got in so early. Someone else posted that they're attending the open house, so I must not be the only one who's gotten in.
