What is it that you want out of a physics PhD, research-wise?

For instance, Georgetown has no HEP, no astro whatsoever. However, if your research experience is biophysics-centered or condensed matter-centered, go ahead and apply anyway.

UMBC has a really high admission rate. UMD has a really low admission rate. Those scores will get you in somewhere. Depends on research experience too. You might want to look at smaller programs.
