UCSB and photocopies of test scores

In the FAQs section of the UCSB physics dept. website I found that
international applicants can submit photocopies of test scores instead
of sending official reports; if you're admitted, then you have to send
official scores.
But in the Graduate Division site they say the GD requires official
test scores, submitted through ETS.

Now what should I do? Any international students who have already met
this problem?

Well, to reduce costs a little...but I guess you're right,
it's not a sensible risk to take.

Why don't you email or call somebody and ask?

I did, and their answer was that they require
official scores.

in their website it is said that you should submit the appl. to GS and send a photocopy of that with photocopy of your scores to the department. so you can send the photocopies to the department and they will consider them. but this univ is one of the top schools and probably one of your top choices so if I were you I would send the official scores to them and negotiate with some lower schools in your list for photocopies.
