At the physics GRE, is it better (for the score) to skip a question than getting it wrong? My plan is to do the easy ones first, come back for the harder ones, and smart guess whatever is left. Thanks

Since you lose 1/4 of a point if you miss a problem it most certainly is better to skip UNLESS you can eliminate a few answers.

actually, this is the strategy that everybody should apply. at the first round doing easy and sweet Qs, in the second round thinking of familiar Qs and using the rules of elimination.

I would disagree slightly with pqoric's advice. Many of the PGRE problems can be solved easily by taking into account limits and using process of elimination. As an example, in a question about an inclined plane, take the height of the plane to be zero or infinity and see if any of the provided answers still make sense, as they should if they are physically correct. Obviously, this strategy will not work on questions that are looking for specific numbers.
