Hey guys,
I'm new here, I'm taking the PGRE in October and I'm just starting to take the practise tests. I noticed that I don't know a lot about optics, particularly the diffraction stuff. Is there any particular book people tend to use? I am using Hecht right now, but its not the greatest.
Also, any advice anyone can offer is very welcome. I've been prowling the forum for a while, but this is my first post.

Most of Hecht is complete overkill for the PGRE. I'm using Young and Freedman(Sears and Zemansky), which seems to have just the right amount to cover what might be on the GRE.

you can also try halliday and resnick with is at the level of young and freedman.... the diffraction stuff is like 3 formulas and how you apply them... that is about it from what i gather
