Hi

What is a good GRE physics score? That is, what is average score of students going to top schools? Is there a website that would tell me this?

Hi,
You can look on the official GRE website (http://www.ets.com I think) and navigate to the physics subject test. They have a sample test in pdf form and at the end they list all the scores and what percentile they correspond to, which will give you an idea of the average scores. If you want to know what grad schools are accepting what scores, go to http://www.gradschoolshopper.com, do a search and then scroll down past the bold list, you can get pdf documents for many schools that list the average GRE scores of the students they accepted. Here are some examples of average physics GRE scores, the rankings I use are from US World News Rankings

1. MIT - Not Given
2. Stanford - 814
3. CalTech - 880
4. Harvard - Not Given
5. Princeton - Not Given
6. Berkeley - 910
7. Cornell - 80th Percentile
8. Chicago - 867
9. Illinois UC - 873
10. UC Santa Barbara - 770

Keep in mind that the averages are both for US students and foreign students, and that foreign students typically have scores from 900-990, so the averages for the US applicants are most likely somewhat below the averages listed here for both.
